Due to the recent Covid-19 virus, many schools choose to take online lessons at home.  In this situation, you can download the PDF textbook. Using PDF textbooks is not only environmentally friendly but also saves your money.

PDF textbook refers to the digitized, interactive function of intelligent textbook content displayed in a scientific and intuitive visual, audio, graphic, and text through electronic media reading textbook.

Project Gutenberg is a volunteer effort to create and share e-books online. The selection includes everything from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

Its works are available in a lot of different languages, including Portuguese. Project Gutenberg also features a special audiobook section that you can download for free!

No registration or fee is required, and books are available in ePub, Kindle, HTML, and simple text formats.

2. Google Play Books

Although this is a store where most of the works are paid, it does sometimes make some works available for you to download for free.

In the free section of the Google eBookstore, you'll find a ton of free books from a variety of genres. Look here for bestsellers, favorite classics, and more, including titles from Ayn Rand and Franz Kafka. Books are available in several formats, and you can also check out ratings and reviews from other users.

3. Open Library

This library catalog is an open online project of Internet Archive, and allows users to contribute books, which allows for its fascinating selection of everything from Ronald Dahl to John Grisham.

It also offers a borrowing feature, that’s exclusive for the registered users. Open Library works much like a regular library, as in it offers a limited amount of books to be borrowed.

4. Library Genesis

Library Genesis  is a file-sharing site that provides academic journal articles, general interest books, images, comics, textbooks, and magazines. This website has millions of articles and PDF textbooks in its inventory.

It’s particularly easy to use, since all you need to do is to look for the name of the book or the author and you’ll get instant results. From fiction to scientific publications.

Similar to PDF Books World, Feedbooks allows those that sign up for an account to download a multitude of free e-books — from Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad to The Scarlet Plague by Jack London — that have become accessible via public domain, and therefore cost you nothing to access.

Unlike some of the other best websites to download free PDF books we’ve shown so far, the library offered by FeedBooks is not available for download in its entirety. That is to say that it works as a virtual ebook store that offers an exclusive section for public domain works and for original books by authors that have chosen to make them free.

10. Archive.org

Finally, Archive.org is not necessarily one of the websites to download free PDF books. In fact, its reach is much wider, since it will offer you magazines, manuals, movies, games, TV shows, and you can even download free music.

If you're looking for out-of-print books in different languages and formats, check out this non-profit digital library. The Internet Archive is a great go-to if you want access to historical and academic books, like an electrical engineer's pocketbook from 1918 and cookbooks from across the world.

Don’t expect to find works that are particularly commercially successful here. On the other hand, you never know: you might find a hidden jewel you’d find nowhere else on the internet!
