The Jewels of Amuria is the fourth book in the popular Oasis series published by the Oasis Book Project. The project aims to foster the reading culture in children by publishing great, educative stories featuring powerful heroes and heroines dealing with issues that African children are faced with. This book tackles the issue of creative thought and will help readers understand the importance of thinking hard to overcome challenges in life.
The Oasis Book Project was established upon the background that Uganda has for long been regarded a 'literary desert'. At Oasis we believe that the love for stories by children has always existed, but was hampered by the scarcity of quality children's books in print. Our mission, thus, is to spark the interest in local literature by making great stories written by Ugandan writers available, affordable, and widely read in the country and beyond.
Oscar Ranzo was born and raised in Jinja. Uganda, and attended Namilyango Junior Boys School, St. Mary's College. Kisubi and Jinja College.
