SWAHILI-ENGLISH DICTIONARY

This is the Second Edition of Swahili-English Dictionary. The First Edition was published in 2001. After the publication of the First Edition of this dictionary, Lexicographers from the Institute of Kiswahili Studies started to seek views from users. Views from different users from inside and outside Tanzania were received and incorporated. It was, moreover, reviewed and critiqued by language and linguistics experts from various universities in Tanzania and Kenya. The revision of the Second Edition started in 2004 and completed in 2014. This dictionary is an indispensable reference tool for students and teachers in secondary schools and colleges, researchers and specialists and speakers of Kiswahili and English. It is full of Kiswahili proverbs with their equivalents in English, verb derivations have been given explanations and many usage examples are given.
