Baroque Senior One Biology Learner's Book

Baroque Senior One Biology Learner's Book has been developed basing on the New Lower Secondary School Curriculum, whose aim is to enable learners to make informed decisions as citizens and family members and to give them the learning skills they need to think critically and study efficiently.

The Learner's Book has been designed to enable learners to use the principles of scien- tific methods/processes and the application of experiential techniques to solve specific problems.

The focus of the content in this book is on developing an understanding and skills through scientific enquiry and rational thinking. The content caters for a wide range of contexts in which to develop understanding through sifting evidence, enquiry and rational thought. These contexts have been designed to engage the interest of the learner and to provide opportunities to build life-related knowledge, experiences and skills.

The following aspects have been given consideration while developing the content of this book; respect for human life, awareness of the importance of living in harmony with the environment, independent, and critical thinking, and the innovative application of technology in solving problems.

On completion of this course of study, the learner should;

• be able to explain, address and successfully manage health, environmental, and
• sustainability challenges facing the society,
• be responsible for his/her own learning,
• think for himself/herself and develop understanding of the different concepts,
• become a critical thinker, who is ready to face new challenges and situations,
• demonstrate that he/she has understood what they have learnt.
